State of Mexico, the entity with most impunity in the country
The State of Mexico is the entity with major impunity in the whole country, since it presents the highest number of unsolved cases, only 0.59 % of the supposed involved ones in the totality of the crimes that are denounced, face a judgment, that means, less of 1 %.
According to the global index of impunity (IGI-MEX 2018), carried out by the Universidad de las Américas Puebla, the entity and, in addition, the country in general, have experienced an institutional deterioration even more serious than the reflected in the first edition of this index, published in 2015, where the conclusion was that " Mexico highlights for having very high levels of impunity, as in aggregate form as each sub-domain and variable”.
In this respect, the State of Mexico turned out to be the worst qualified entity, obtaining 80.06 points of impunity, the highest of the IGI-MEX.
It is necessary to emphasize that this index is constructed from diverse indicators, not only the number of complaints and judgments.
The study indicates that, in the State of Mexico, they register 202, 205 investigation folders a year, the highest quantity in the whole country, and only 1,209 face a judgment, which demonstrates that Public Prosecution Services have a very weak way to deal with these issues.
