The Magic Village of Metepec launched his own public bicycle system virtually with the same restrictions of Toluca Huizi system, due to the fat that it only accepts cards payments, debit, credit or PayPal, but with the innovation that will allow to use it with the installation of an app in a smartphone, also it will be linked to the mobility system planned to the InterCity train.
The system has 300 bicycles to begin, those will be able to be parked in special parking spaces, one of which will be near a station of the train, at the intersection of Pino Suárez avenue and Las Torres Avenue, one of the principal access to Metepec.
The public bicycle app and system were presented by local authorities and representatives of Mexican company startup VBike, dealers of the project.
The directors of the company, Ricardo Pérez Lara and Federico Paolakoff, respectively executive director and operations director, explained that t is about a system of “shared bicycle”, in which it exploits the technology of smartphones, those that the citizens have already through an app, to create the first one of its kind, due to it doesn’t require bicycle-parkings (dockless).
The municipal authorities indicated that the startup of this new system of public transport, is a work of social co-responsibility between the government, the private initiative and the citizenship, which will seek to concretize the aims of the PIMUS (mobility plan), as part of the of the reconstruction of the urban structure across an alternative of ecological transport, with easy access and less invasive than the self-propelled vehicles.
The representatives of the company informed that the one who should want to use the bicycles only has to download the VBike Mexico app in their mobile device, register, register their form of payment (credit/debit cards or a PayPal account), and look for the nearest bicycle to their location.
" Once scanned the QR code of the bicycle, this one will be unlocked and will be able to be used in agreement to the scheme of rent that has been chosen during the registration. After its use, it is not necessary to return the bicycle to the same station, it's only a fat of searching the designated parking spaces and to close the padlock again ". It is necessary to emphasize that the bicycles are monitored by a GPS device for its location and that the user gets an insurance in case of accidents.
With the project VBike, it is claimed, as Ecobici in the Mexico City or Mibici in the City of Guadalajara, that the citizens get involved in a direct way and rely on alternatives of public transport, friendly with the environment and the urban mobility.
The new system of transport will be accompanied by programs of the creation of bike-parkings, manuals for the cyclist, designation of zones of traffic and rehabilitation of cycle routes, the previous thing with the aim to stimulate the use of the bicycle and to guarantee the success of the project.
COSTS
There are two ways of using VBike: for membership with three plans, annual ($399 MXN), half-yearly ($229 MXN) monthly ($49 MXN) with which there will be unlimited trips of two hours during the chosen period; and the payment for trip ($10 MXN) with which it is possible to use the bicycle during a whole hour.
