Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador assigned a truth commission to investigate the Ayotzinapa case

December 3rd, 2018

With the signature of the presidential decree of access of truth in the Ayotzinapa case, the new federal administration aims to guarantee justice and free access to the reports of investigations to the parents of the 43 students disappeared from the Isidro Burgos Normal Rural School.

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, heading the signing of the decree, pointed out that:

“This decree commands the entire government, particularly the executive powers, to provide you (the commission) support and help in order to get to the truth. The whole government is prepared to help this cause and I assure you that there will not be impunity in this case or in any other”.

“The legitimacy provided by the party’s chief executive throughout decades allows confirming the fact that there are not political commitments of any sort that prevent the access of justice and truth”.

“The thing that makes proud in the most is that, in all this time, I have never renounced to my principles, my ideas and I didn’t leave my dignity behind. I didn’t have to betray in order to get where I actually am. That is why you must keep the faith. I don’t owe anything to any interest group of legal entities; my only partner has been the people of Mexico”.
