The 60 Legislature of the State of Mexico unanimously approved amendments to the State Criminal Code to increase penalties of up to 20 years in prison to clandestine loggers and public servants who change land use over protected natural areas.
The deputy of Morena, Margarito González Morales presented the final opinion prepared by the Legislative Commissions of the Government and Constitutional Points and of the Procuration and Administration of Justice.
Deputy Gabriel Gutiérrez Cureño acknowledged the initiative approved in the face of the illegal devastation of the Zempoala Lagoon forest reserve, especially in the territory of Ocuilan and made a call for more resources to be allocated in the next budget.
