The 89 talks, conferences and information stands were attended by around 5,970 people and are carried out based on collaboration agreements to strengthen civic education and democratic political culture of the State of Mexico, signed by the IEEM with the Ministry of Education and the UAEM

IN MULTIPLE SPACES IEEM DIFFUSES IMPORTANCE OF CITIZEN PARTICIPATION

In order to ensure that Mexican citizens know their political-electoral rights, recognize the authorities that guarantee them, as well as the importance of the political participation of youth, women and indigenous peoples in elections, the Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico (IEEM) held 89 events during conferences between January-August, in various educational, governmental spaces and with civil society organizations.
The events, which were attended by around 5,970 people, were organized by the Directorate of Citizen Participation of the IEEM covering the topics: political-electoral rights for citizen participation in the State of Mexico; citizen participation of indigenous peoples; citizen participation of people with disabilities and older adults.
Also that of citizen participation inside and outside the Electoral Processes; the participation of young people; the participation of women in the public space and the rights of petition and access to public information as instruments for the exercise of active citizenship.
It is worth mentioning that some of these activities are carried out based on collaboration agreements to strengthen civic education and democratic political culture of the State of Mexico, signed by the IEEM with the Secretariat of Education of the Government of the State of Mexico and the University Autonomous State of Mexico (UAEM), as well as at the invitation of other institutions.
In this sense, lectures were given at the facilities of the Polytechnic University of Atlautla and Chimalhuacán; at the Fidel Velázquez Technological Universities in Nicolás Romero, del Sur, in Tejupilco and in Zinacantepec; in addition, in the Techniques of Higher Studies of Chicoloapan, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Ixtapaluca and Jocotitlán and in the School of Arts and Crafts located in Amecameca, Zumpango and Ixtapaluca.
In turn, they were carried out at the General Directorate of Social Participation of the Government of the State of Mexico and through the Mexican Institute of Youth in Ecatepec, Ixtapaluca, Lerma, Tonanitla and Tultitlán. Similarly with the Andromeda Association of Civil Associations.
They were also carried out in the City Councils of Acambay, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Ecatepec, Nopaltepec, Ocoyoacac, Tlalnepantla and Toluca and, in the Municipal Institute of Women of Coyotepec.
Likewise, the events were held at the Faculties of Anthropology, Languages, Economics, Nursing and Obstetrics of the UAEM, as well as at the UAEM Texcoco University Center. With these actions, the IEEM guarantees citizens the exercise of their political-electoral rights, by monitoring compliance with their obligations; as well as to help promote and disseminate democratic political culture. It is worth mentioning that publications and dissemination material of the local electoral body were distributed to the conference attendees free of charge.
