There has been much talk about the renewal of the Board of Directors of the College of Lawyers of the Estado de México (Collegiate body that has lost credibility), whicl almost thirty years ago was home to great intellectuals of law who exercised throughout the country.

It is known that this private institution, had well-known lawyers, who were later renowned politicians, who distinguished themselves as worthy jurists and litigants who would eventually arrive at the policy fórum in the areas of executive, legislative and judicial power, at the municipal, state and federal levels.

This College was an obligate referent in the legal issues that occupied the nation; however, the College of Lawyers replied to uses about the inherintance of its ownership, since this meant the occupation of a public office of importance in the life of the country, since almost al lof its intellectual jurists who assumed its presidency, subsequently occupied a place in public administration.

Its interesting to see who an institution that should have housed the legal professionals who worked in the lawyers forum, in order to give them protection, professionalization and provide them with ethics to improve their performance as professionals at the service of society, has come to less by becoming a place where the immediate position in the college itself no longer matter, but the public office that later assumes who assumes its presidency matters, which was followed by the partisan inertia of “power for power”.

Hence, for the next elections of the directive council of the Bar Association of the Estado de México, is not strange, that it is intented to use the practices of taxation, since those who run as candidates to occupy its presidency, don´t have a greater professional impact May their old drivers and their old uses, but dear reader let´s see the reasons.

There is a candidate that the local media put as the officer and whose review of his work warns that he has only been inserted in the bureaucracy, with an inertia that only provides the disease of power. This candidate has all the experience for an administrative and inclusive management space as an intelligent man, but none of the legal work, just listen to his speech, lacking elementary legal knowledge and trade as speaker, indicating that he is oblivious to demands of the public hearings that prescribe the reforms to the justice systems throughout the coutry, in addition to the fact that their lack of experience in the universities is evident since isn´t, nor has represented the law professorship; besides that his candidacy emerges with a lack of identity and respect for professional associations, since only a few months ago he was president of another organization of the same nature and without more, he left this organizartion as if it were a jump between policians parties.

There is another candidate which reflects the lawyer of the Orthodox school, a candidate with an university career and an excellent step for public service wich unfortunately is not noticed in his speech, which is for the youngers “more of the same”, showing an exhausted advocacy, without being noticed backed by lawyers of the new school, by academics, by public servants of push, that lead to infer that it has an innovate work project.

Finally, there is a candidate who is the leader of a movement that the media has talked about, denouncing acts of corruption inside the College of Lawyers, demanding that the list of unionized lawyers be made public, promising to show evidence of the corruption in their management, without it having done so to date.

This character says to represent the sector of abandoned and relegated lawyers, however, it seems to represent more the interests of a political party or some union; It should be noted that the fresh and dignified proposals should be rescued by the first two candidates mentioned are the inclusion of Lawyers with different capabilities and the free professionalization of lawyers with limited resources or socially marginalized areas. As of today, the College of Lawyers is a hotbed of milestones for power. With this further away from the young Lawyers eager for spaces and forums where knowledge is privileged and not politics, where the essential is the science of law, not the dispute of a presidency of a collegiate body, as if it were that of a country. Leave the policy to the politicians or change their trade, it seems the claim of the jurists that if they see with sadness this phenomenon whose result will be negative not for one candidateo r for another, but for the lawyers´union.

Lawyers must be redignified and begin to build a line of 21 st-century jurists by universities of the country and abroad, hence the leaders, not only of the union, but also of all the unions of all professions and field of knowledge. They must be true leaders for their example of academic excellence and professional practice, endowed with a clear projection for the improvement of their union and their country, and not be the same.
