One way in which citizens can develop in a peaceful environment is through exercising their right to vote and being responsible in choosing the authorities of the three government movements since participating is a responsibility that allows democracy to be promoted, he said. When speaking about “Education for peace” in the program Behind your vote, of the Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico (IEEM), specifically that, the studies dedicated to the development of peace arise from the human need to end the conflicts and violence, that is why they have created different strategies and activities that collaborate and help society and its environment.
When interviewed by the correspondence of "El Heraldo de México" and "The Observer", Tere Montaño, about how to educate for peace and development, the researcher pointed out that the pedagogue Xesús Jares, established the model as such and what divided into two terms, the first of them refers to the peaceful resolution of conflicts and the second is about implementing creative actions to resolve adversities.
He added that peace education also refers to theoretical and practical issues for a healthier coexistence and harmonious development, instilling values of preference from an early age and human aspects that help to be better as a person.
Gómez Collado deepened that, through art, as is the case with theater or dance, interesting solutions can be achieved that result in peaceful coexistence, as well as being more tolerant and not discriminating.
He also indicated that, although there are other countries such as Spain and Austria where exercises that promote education for peace are carried out, he said that, in the case of Mexico, so that it can have greater acceptance in its implementation it is important to create a policy educational public based on values for the resolution of conflicts stories such as dialogue and creativity.
In addition, he stated that said policy will have to be based on laws that apply in all federal and state and municipal controls.
Finally, Professor-Researcher of the UAEMéx stressed that peace is a human right along with democracy, so you have to keep them in mind and create more spaces of peace where people can gather, exchange ideas and learn.
