The Ecatepec government deployed operations this morning to supervise the non-installation of 308 street markets in the municipality, a measure that will last until May 31 to cut the chain of infections of Covid-19, since the State of Mexico is in Red Light and it is expected that this week will be the one with the greatest spread of the disease.

The mayor Fernando Vilchis Contreras thanked the willingness of the street market leaders to abide by this measure, who asked their members to suspend the street markets from Tuesday, May 26, and until next Sunday, May 31. Ecatepec is the municipality with the largest population in the State of Mexico, with more than two million inhabitants, which is 308 street vendors settle in its municipal territory from Monday to Sunday, with more than 40 thousand merchants dedicated to this activity.

Vilchis Contreras confirmed the non-installation of the Prolongación Lázaro Cárdenas avenue street market, in the Central Michoacana neighborhood, one of the most important in Ecatepec, with more than 200 merchants, whose leaders expressed solidarity with the actions of the municipal government to stop the spread of Covid -19 in the municipality.
