AMLO offers consultation about the feasibility of the new Mexico City's airport at Texcoco
Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador -AMLO- offered at his concluding campaign in the state of Mexico, submitting to consultation the construction of the new Mexico City's airport as well as concluding the México-Toluca Intercity Train; ending rejection at universities, providing general scholarships for high school students, also something called ‘apprentice allowance’, and finally, converting the official residence into a magnificent cultural center.
AMLO concluded regional campaigns along last Sunday meeting in the State of Mexico with hundreds of locals, promising "he will return as president after the presidential poll" in the municipalities of Ecatepec, Toluca, Tultitlán, and Texcoco, where he offered- under the people's request “lands instead of planes”- submitting to open consultation with experts as well as an audience with Mexican president Enrique Peña the feasibility of the construction of the new airport at Texcoco. After an interview, he considered this consultation could not wait any longer which is why he is planning to carry it out this September.
Later on in Toluca, the utmost headquarters of the political party currently in charge (PRI), AMLO was warmly hailed by around 10 thousand militants as if he were a rock star. After hours of waiting, only to hear his voice throwing a hopeful speech giving account of his political agenda, that aims to dramatically transform Mexico beginning by cutting the senior staff's privileges in the bud, at the vibrant civic square where he promised to come back in order to raise awareness of his work agenda in the social field.
Additionally, facing up the government palace of Toluca where privileged wages are paid monthly, Lopez Obrador said that he will get rid of the monthly 600,000 pesos wages from the Supreme Court of Justice ministers; the Deputies’ 500,000 pesos wages, the 400,000 pesos wages from federal deputies’ and even the up to 300.000 pesos wages from autonomous agencies such as INE,TRIFE and Instituto de Transparencia (Institut of Transparency).
One of his commitments as president is to reduce his own wage to less than a half of the current amount. Furthermore, he promised to sell the presidential airplane as well as the fleet conformed by 54 jets of the federal administration, whereas the 118 official helicopters – that are currently misused even to getting to a golf session- will be used only to transport patients.
About the elderly people's pensions, AMLO claimed to raise it to 1,500 pesos monthly instead of 1,600 bimonthly. Plus it will be universally given. Thus, pensioners form ISSSTE and IMSS will receive it independently from their other types of supports.
On the other hand, AMLO reaffirmed his commitment to youngsters to end up rejection at universities for which acceptance of applicants will be –somehow- of a 100%. A 2,400 pesos scholarship will be provided to high school students until the end of their professional education. In addition, youngsters who do not wish to study will be offered a 3,600 pesos monthly wages working as part of the apprentice allowance agenda. He also promised to raise the salaries from farmhands at the time that new jobs will be created by enhancing the level of consumption of local produce.
Supported by Horacio Duarte Olivares, the MORENA national leader, as well as by Manuel Espino, a former PAN member, and Rodolfo sánchez Gomez, the MORENA candidate to become Mayor of Toluca, Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador offered to continue with the construction of the Mexico-Toluca Intercity Train that is not going to be finished before the change of power- despite the raising of its price from 21 to 35 and later on 65 billion pesos- due to its importance to the citizens.
Finally, Andrés Manuel appealed for the ex-president Vicente Fox Quesada to stop hesitating whether to support the PRI or the PAN candidate because he assured, either way, MORENA, undoubtedly, is winning the elections.
