The prosecutor’s office of the General Attorney of the Republic (FGR) informed this Tuesday about the arrestment for the extradition of Jorge Juan Torres Lopez, the former acting governor of Coahuila, who was wanted by the U.S Drug Enforcement Agency in order to be processed for several offences related to diverse illegal actions.
The former governor was also wanted by Interpol in 194 countries through a red fiche issued in Lyon, France.
The arrest of the former governor, who has been associated to actions that ended up indebting the state of Coahuila, was performed this Tuesday at Puerto Vallarta, in the State of Jalisco, according to sources of the Federal Government adding that no gunshot was necessary.
Torres Lopez extradition could be performed to the United States in the next few days, where he could face criminal charges in operation of resources of illicit provenance and fraud.
The prosecutor’s office of the General Attorney of the Republic (FGR) informed that staff of the Federal Ministerial Police achieved the arrest of Juan T at Puerto Vallarta through clerical and fieldwork. This was the reason why it was not necessary resorting to violence. Furthermore, their civil rights were respected at every moment.
It was informed that Juan T has a red fiche issued by the Interpol headquarters located in Lyon France at the request of its Central National Office in the U.S., for which he was wanted in 194 countries.
The PRI’S former governor was arrested in order to be provided to the district judge specialized on the accusatory system of the penal-federal justice centre located at the pretrial detention prison southern of the Mexico City in order to define his legal situation according to the international extradition procedures.
