The municipal Ecatepec DIF is currently providing shelter, medical and psychological attention to three minors who remained in a state of neglect and abuse inside their own home.
After residents from La Veleta colony posted a video showing the precarious conditions in which three children lived, the municipal DIF, with support from the Federal Police and the Family Violence Victims Assistance Unit, carried out an operation to protect minors and investigate the situation in which the children were.
Around 11:00, municipal authorities carried out an inspection in a house located in Aguilas street #32. In there, their mother, who was identified as Lizbeth of 27 years old, accompanied 8, 6 and 4 years old children called Jair, Ximena and Sebastian.
After completing the inspection, Lizbeth and her three children were taken to the facilities of DIF Ecatepec System, where the children underwent a physical and medical evaluation to initiate the corresponding investigations, since it is suspected that Ximena has suffered sexual abuse derived from the lack of care from his mother.
The Attorney for the Defense of Minors, Carlos Alberto Vázquez, informed that the assessment of the children was carried out, which will be taken by the Public Prosecutor's Office. This dependence of the Attorney General of the State of Mexico determines the follow up that will be provided to the children and the legal status of the mother.
The social workers found the house in unhealthy conditions, with garbage on the floor, and all the rooms without being cleaned, including the bathroom. The children were in the living room, reclining on old and dirty armchairs, apparently there they slept every day.
The neighbours of the zone, worried about the situation, informed that the woman leaves the children without attention by long periods of time, to the point of the infants go out to the houses to request something to eat. They also assured that sometimes she leaves them locked up for more than 10 hours, so people passed food to them under the door.
