The fourth Toluca’s councilor, Arturo Chavarría Sánchez, stated that the change of category, from the National Park, Nevado de Toluca, to as Flora and Fauna Protection Area, decree made on October 1st 2013, has not favored its environmental conservation. Reason why it is necessary that the Federal Government take actions and revert the status of the Xinantecatl, to guarantee its protection.
On a press conference an exhort to the President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador has been made. So he sends the National Guard to give security and strengthen the Nevado de Toluca. Moreover, avoid to continue destroying it by the wood cutting and overuse the water resources.
