UNAM designs projects to rescue marginalized areas of Ecatepec

Specialists from the National Autonomous University of Mexico will develop projects to rescue the urban infrastructure of five high concentration areas of poverty in the municipality of Ecatepec, said Mayor Fernando Vilchis Contreras.
A multidisciplinary team of more than 50 specialists from the Institute of Geography of the UNAM toured the polygons of high marginalization of the municipality, with the aim of carrying out a comprehensive study to identify areas and priority needs in the municipality.
The municipal president of Ecatepec reported that the intervention of academics and researchers in the planning of these projects will raise the quality of life of about 600 thousand people living in marginal conditions in Ecatepec.
Rodolfo Montaño Salazar, regional sub-coordinator of the State of Mexico of the Institute of Geography of the UNAM, said that the results of this analysis of the municipality will be sent to the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu) of the federal government. So that the agency Consider allocating almost 600 million pesos to Ecatepec, through the Urban Improvement Program.
