The National Electoral Institute (INE in Spanish), will invest 380 million pesos in organizing the elections process to renovate the State of Mexico’s governor, this was informed by the counselor Norberto López, who on the other side, indicated that the notification of more than 1.3 million citizens that will integrate the boxes’ directive boards has already started.

The electoral counselor of the INE’s Local Executive Council in the State of Mexico, pointed out that most of the 380 million pesos programmed by the INE for the state’s electoral process, will be aimed to the logistics part of the process, which will be set up on its bigger part by the INE.

In an exclusive interview, López Ponce said that such funds are free from the budget assigned to the IEEM (Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico) for these elections, a budget of 2,228 million pesos.

He clarified that to the local institute corresponds to finance the electoral material and documents among other activities, though the heaviest part, is done by the INE.

“IEEM will participate in the moment that receives its district counselors. Everything related with the computing and scrutiny of the electoral boxes will correspond to IEEM as well as to give the proof of majority to the winner candidate. Well, but the thick part of the electoral activities is on the INE’s shoulders”, he said.

The INE’s counselor indicated that according to the latest electoral reforms, IEEM’s activities are more than bounded.

About the activities related to the organization of the elections on June 4th to renovate the governor, the electoral counselor said that the citizens who will be part of the directive boards have already started to be notified, plus that almost simultaneously they are receiving training with the aim of guaranteeing that each of them are well informed about the activities that will be done the election’s day.

“Notifications have already begun, there’s a limit date for it on March 31st, but at the same time, people will be notified and trained; we have insisted that such training must be made firmly and convincing the citizens that they have to be in the polling place on the election’s day, because we don’t want to happen the same that has in other elections’ processes where at the end of the day, the party co-opt them, it asks them not to go and the strategy is made, where the citizens who are in the first row are citizens of a politic party and they get the ballot boxes appropriated”, he said.

On the other hand, he indicated that a total of 3,352 trainers were hired, who started the notification process to more than 1.3 million citizens who will integrate the almost 19,000 directive boards of polling places; it’s about 1,333 men and a total of 2,019 women, also there were hired 497 electoral supervisors.
