Federal and municipal authorities launched in Ecatepec the first Club for Peace in the country, which is part of the National Strategy for the Prevention of Addictions and with which it is intended to restore peace in young people.
The event was held at the Las Américas Cultural and Sports Center, in the Las Américas subdivision, Ecatepec, where Mayor Fernando Vilchis Contreras said that establishing a Young Territory Center and the first Peace Club in this town is emblematic, since 40 % of the inhabitants of the municipality are young and the initiative aims to prevent them from falling into addictions.
Jesús Ramírez, spokesman for the presidency and the Republic, said that in Ecatepec three out of every five crimes are committed by young people, including women, in addition to the fact that last year 22 thousand people were referred to the Qualifying Officer, of which 15 thousand were related to the consumption of alcohol and other drugs.
