"We are not going to stop," said Mayor Fernando Vilchis Contreras when he gave his First Government Report, in which he highlighted the results obtained during his administration, especially in matters of public safety, drinking water supply and urban and road infrastructure.

Vilchis Contreras considered that the aforementioned three axes are fundamental for the reconstruction of Ecatepec when presenting in a solemn session of the council the state that keeps the municipal public administration and the work carried out during this year.

Subsequently, before more than eight thousand citizens, the mayor listed the actions carried out, in a coordinated manner between society and government opened a gap for the transformation of Ecatepec, despite the obstacles he encountered at the beginning of his government.

Vilchis Contreras said that historically the council approved a budget of 125 million pesos to provide police officers with better tools for their performance; In this way, more than 300 new elements were incorporated, in addition to 200 patrols and communication radios were delivered to generate the appropriate conditions so that citizens feel more secure.

The mayor acknowledged that corruption, abandonment, and loss of values, which led to previous administrations, allowed Ecatepec to reach the levels of insecurity currently being experienced.

"Rescuing Ecatepec from insecurity and violence is the main axis of this government and in 2019 we have called it the year of public safety for many reasons," he added.

In order to protect and safeguard the Ecatepeans, the Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters received more equipment and more training to attend daily emergencies that occur in the municipal demarcation.

Regarding water supply and the improvement of the drainage service, Vilchis Contreras stressed that thanks to the contributions of the taxpayers complied, it was possible to rehabilitate 22 water wells, two carcams and the drilling of 15 new deep wells that will supply communities that did not count with the vital liquid, such as the Fifth Zone region or Cuauhtemoc City; In addition to the replacement of the drainage network that has already concluded its useful life.

"One of the first actions we undertook was to end the robbery of the vital liquid, which for years prevailed in Ecatepec for the benefit of a few, who made money with the need of the people and sold the water through private pipes," he said.

He added: "the works include the construction of two water treatment plants in the Fifth Zone, to improve the quality of the liquid that reaches our neighbors."
