Law of disappeared in Edomex approved, fund and search cells will be integrated

Unanimously by votes, the 60 Local Legislature approved the Law on Enforced Disappearance of Persons and Disappearance committed by individuals, which obliges the State to integrate a special fund, specialized teams and an entire infrastructure for search, location and identification of the more than 7 thousand 539 people who have not been located in the entity, according to the latest official data of 2017.
The deputy of Morena and promoter of this project, Karina Labastida Sotelo, recalled that the reported cases of disappearance have been increasing in the entity, of 911 reported in 2012, was passed to a figure of 6 thousand 471 in 2018, which speaks of a rebound higher than 710 percent in the last seven years.
The new legislation eliminates from the local law the term “unlocated person” provided in the General Law to ensure that the State searches for missing persons with all the resources available to them from the moment of their disappearance.
