IEEM CONTRIBUTES IN THE POLITICAL-ELECTORAL TRAINING OF UNIVERSITY

In order to increase the knowledge in political-electoral matters between the interested citizens and the university students, the Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico (IEEM) through the Directorate of Political Parties, carried out during 2019 the courses on Independent candidacies and about the Procedure tending to obtain the registration as a local party.
Both pieces of training were held from February to November, in which more than 340 people were attended at different venues such as Centro de Estudios Superiores Universitarios S.C. Tianguistenco campus; in the Unit of Superior Studies Jilotepec and Temacalcingo of the Universidad Mexiquense del Bicentenario; and also at the Autonomous Metropolitan University, Lerma Unit.
In the case of the course on Independent Candidacies, it was achieved that the university students knew everything related to the selection process to contend for an office of popular election in an independent way, whose agenda is based on what is established in the Electoral Code of the State of Mexico (CEEM), highlighting the stages of the procedure such as the acts prior to registration to be in the contest; obtaining citizen support and, finally, being candidates.
Regarding the course on the Procedure to obtain registration as a local party, it was aimed at students, as well as citizens in general, knowing their political-electoral rights such as voting, being voted and association, with this, contribute to the diffusion of the political-democratic culture.
In turn, they were explained that, in accordance with electoral regulations, the citizen organization that intends to become a local political party, must inform IEEM of this purpose in the month of January of the year following the election to the Government.
It is important to mention that, according to the Annual Program of Activities, it is planned to teach for the following year, a greater number of courses, mainly on Independent Candidacies, prior to the 2020-2021 Electoral Process.
With this, the IEEM brings information to the youth of all university careers, and regions of the entity, so that they know and exercise their political-electoral rights and, also, actively participate in the public affairs of their communities.
