The Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico assumed the Presidency of the Observatory of Political Participation of Women in the State of Mexico, with the objective of continuing to strengthen the mechanisms to prevent and eradicate gender-based political violence and work together with the State Council of Women and Social Welfare (CEMyBS) and the Electoral Tribunal of the State of Mexico (TEEM), as members of its Executive Directorate.

During the Eighth Regular Session of the Observatory held at the Electoral Training and Documentation Center, the rotation of the Presidency was converted for a period of one year that corresponds from January to December 2020, and with this the TEEM stage of being at front of it.

At the time, the IEEM President Councilor, Pedro Zamudio Godínez, when taking protest as a representative of the verified Observatory that it is important to continue working together with the three powers of the State, as well as with the members of the political parties and civil society, to overcome the challenges that still exist to achieve gender parity, as well as to prevent and eradicate all forms of violence, including those that occur in the political sphere.

He explained that it is important to increase the participation of women in positions of popular choice, mainly of the original peoples and ensure that gender parity is met, in accordance with the constitutional reform of "parity in everything", approved last 6 July 2019, which covers all government powers, autonomous agencies, and indigenous municipalities.

In this regard, the Chief Justice of the TEEM, Raúl Flores Bernal, took the opportunity to welcome the new Presidency and mentioned that it is time to move forward in the common good from the perspective of gender equity.

In turn, the Technical Secretariat of the Observatory, represented by the Head of the Gender and Eradication of Violence Unit, Rocío de los Ángeles Álvarez Montero, presented the 2020 Work Program, which will focus on five non-limiting aspects, which They will be complemented according to the needs of each member.

In such a way that we work on aspects such as the generation and dissemination of information on the evolution of women's political participation in the State of Mexico; strengthen mechanisms to prevent, address and punish political violence against women; accelerate the empowerment of women to exercise their electoral political rights; promote an agenda of substantive equality in the state and municipal political sphere and, finally, promote citizen participation in favor of women's political participation.

In the same way, you can schedule the calendar of ordinary sessions, which are equally not entirely limiting for them to be carried out, being April, July, October, and December the proposed months for meetings.

With this, the work of this year of the Observatory of Political Participation of Women in the State of Mexico is given, in search of its members, they join the tasks and strategies defined to meet the objectives set.

During the session they had the Electoral Counselor Francisco Bello Corona, the Head of the CEMyBS, Melissa Estefanía Vargas Camacho and the member of that body, María Isabel Becerra Ambrocio; the Deputy of the LX Legislature Mariana Uribe Bernal, Magistrates and Magistrates of the TEEM as is the case of the Electoral Magistrate, Leticia Tavira, the Undersecretary of Political Development, Jesús Izquierdo Rojas, the Head of the Institute of Transparency, Access to Public Information and Protection of Personal Data of the State of Mexico and Municipalities, Zulema Martínez; of the Prosecutor Specialized in Matters of Electoral Crimes,

Alejandro Rodríguez Martínez, members of the State Council for the Integral Development of Indigenous Peoples of the State of Mexico; as well as representatives of political parties, civil organizations and interested citizens.
