Among the 50 deaths due to coronavirus, three doctors who worked in hospitals and clinics of the Mexican Institute of Social Security in Monclova, Coahuila, the city of Zacatecas and the Hidalgo State Secretary of Health also died from the disease.
In the case of Zacatecas, the state Health authorities indicated that the doctor with a confidential name was infected in the first week of March by a relative who lives in France and came to Mexico for a visit. The 38-year-old doctor presented symptoms several days later, during which time he continued working in the clinic, and it was until March 18 when he was admitted to the No. 1 Hospital of the IMSS.
In the case of Coahuila, on Wednesday, Dr. Gualberto Reyes, who worked at the General Hospital of Zone (HGZ) No. 7 of the IMSS in Monclova, died. Dr. Reyes, 45, was a specialist in the emergency department. Reyes had been hospitalized for several days in the Intensive Care area of the same hospital. In this regard, the IMSS recognized failures when investigating the contagion of the first doctor who tested positive in Monclova, and it was no longer considered a suspicious case of coronavirus in the Emergency area, which was the area where the doctor worked. Lastly, on Tuesday he reported in Pachuca, Hidalgo, the death of Arturo Olvera Martínez, a doctor attached to the state Health Secretariat. Olvera Martínez had worked in the Covid19 Immediate Response Hospital, known as the “inflatable hospital”.
