The municipal government carried out the sanitation of public transport units and the central supply, in addition to the 168 hospitals of the IMSS and markets to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The mayor Fernando Vilchis Contreras reported that health authorities estimate that the next four weeks will be the ones with the greatest contagion from the virus, so to slow down its progress, they increased the cleaning and disinfection of public spaces and 35,000 public transport units in Ecatepec.
The mayor witnessed the sanitation of the Central de Abasto located in the Venta de Carpio area, where he found that those in charge of the site comply with the sanitary recommendations made by federal and state health authorities.
"There are many people here who come to buy their products very early because the economy and the wealth in this municipality are distributed very early," he said.
He added: "We have had meetings, we have been reviewing and evaluating the entrance to this commercial space. They have their tarpaulins, their images, their information banners about the fact that they use the mask, they let one or a maximum of two people enter to make purchases, today the concentration capacity at the Central de Abasto has been reduced ”.
Victoria Arriaga Ramírez, director of Civil Protection and Fire of Ecatepec, explained that they disinfected the exterior and corridors of the site, in addition to the fact that the sanitizer they use is organic and does not represent a risk to people or pets. She mentioned that two or three times a week they will sanitize the Central de Abasto, as it is a space attended by hundreds of people, especially retail vendors not only from Ecatepec but from neighboring municipalities and even from other entities, such as Mexico City. and Hidalgo.
Municipal Civil Protection also sanitized the exterior of the 196 IMSS hospital located in the San Agustín Tercera Sección neighborhood, as well as the neighboring Family Medicine Unit, the latter serving people with symptoms of Covid-19, where they disinfected sidewalks, walls, and bars of medical centers.
