Removal of Carlos Hank statue through public consultation: Arturo Chavarria

Toluca's fourth councilor, Arturo Chavarria Sánchez, announced that he would make a public consultation to continue his proposal for the removal of the statue of the former governor of the State of Mexico, Carlos Hank González, from Paseo Tollocan Avenue. This way it is the citizens who determine the permanence or not of this monument.
In a press conference, the mayor said that after requesting all of the documents about the monument to the general director of Urban Development and Public Works, Alejandro Verduzco Murillo, he replied that no record was found, since the Municipal Urban Development Plan of the Municipality does not contemplate as a Regional Impact Unit the monuments construction. That is, Toluca City Council was never consulted for the installation of the monument.
According to this, the fourth governor of the Mexican capital reiterated that his proposal is to place in that space an element of national symbol that really represents the national identity. Therefore, he considered that this issue should be of interest to the entire society, and citizens are the ones who must decide about it, since at the time it was a decision of a few.
On the other hand, after being questioned about the last cases of corruption, in which elements of the municipal police have been colluded, Chavarria Sánchez proposed to request the Government of Toluca to apply trust controls to the police elements in toxicology, psychology, kinesics, graphology, social work, polygraph and tests in psychiatry. All this, especially at senior management, which have failed to bring order to their staff, starting with the General Director of Public Security, Roberto Valdés Garcia.
He also requested the report of the administrative disqualification procedure of three elements of the municipal police involved in criminal acts on August 4, in order to know what their legal situation really is.
Finally, the mayor of Toluca proposed to standardize the regulations on billboards and telecommunications antennas to prevent them to continue to settle without obeying the provisions.
Arturo Chavarria affirmed that for the Fourth Region of Toluca City Council, meeting citizen demands is a duty, so he is attentive to all issues to give them solution: security, environment, urban development and public works, etc., which concern the inhabitants of the city.
