The opposition of the right, together with the one that is claimed of the left and the corporate right, twinned in their attempt to derail the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, have their sights set on in 2021, in that fight for power, the model economic and the country´s direction, started 14 years ago, accentuated in 2006 and resolved in its first phase in 2018, with the temporary defeat of those forces.

In 2021 federal and local legislative elections will be held. The Federal Chamber of Deputies will be renewed, where Morena and its allies have a qualified majority, as it does not have it in the Senate, whose correlation of forces will remain as now until September 2024, because there will be no senatorial elections before.

Morena swept the federal and local elections of 2018, with its resounding triumph in the presidential, in that struggle for power and the way and fund to exercise that power, but winning the ownership of the Executive Power did not represent conquering once and for all always the totality of political control and much less definitely defeat the usufructuary economic interests of neoliberalism and its electoral arms or suppress its ambitions to reconquer the lost.

In this scenario and with the conviction of the inevitable wear and tear in the exercise of power, the opposition parties, in wich the PRD and the MC parties march to the tail of those on the right, are now preparing the fight to snatch the leading party alliance by MORENA, the majority in the Federal Chamber of Deputies and in the local legislatures, as is the main case of that of the Estado de México.

Through the induced or convinced desertion of local deputies to enter the PAN and the PRD the opposition managed to destroy the absolute majority of MORENA in the Mexican popular representation and the efforts of the sponsors and funders of these maneuvers are now directed to take away the qualified majority to that same legislative coalition. They don´t want to wait until 2021.

As it is well known that the electoral struggles, regardless of whether they are federal or local, are decided in the municipal territories, the conservation of the legislative majority and of the MORENA municipalities in the Estado de México will depend on the performance of their municipalities. And at the moment very few offer highly satisfactory results, and many are not responding to what voters expected of them.

They have already lost 10 months in the learning curve, but that is not the whole problem, since the most serious thing is that many mayors, trustees, councilors and municipal designation officials do not show interest in contributing to the achievement of MORENA´s strategic objectives nationwide, because many have not stripped of their ideology before, when they were militant in the PAN, PRI or MC parties.

Some morenistas municipal leaders have militated in all or almost all political parties, and for their performance it seems that they accumulated the vices of each of their former political organizations, to which is added the absence of an effective party leadership, which justly encourages to the opposition to ally in 2021 and 2023. Therefore it is not unreasonable to maintain from now that MORENA can maintain in those years its condition of first electoral force in the State, but without the same spaces of power of now.
